Kathryn Ewing is a Senior Public Health Research Associate at LA Best Babies Network, where she coordinates technical assistance and support for First 5 LA–funded home visiting programs. She also serves as a co-lead of the Advocacy Workgroup within the LA County Perinatal and Early Childhood Home Visitation Consortium. Kathryn is a Certified Postpartum Doula and holds an MA in Infant, Child, and Family Mental Health from Fielding Graduate University.

Kathryn is passionate about normalizing the need for parent support and expanding equitable access to it.

Her professional experience includes advocating for improved perinatal mental health screening within obstetric settings at the Postpartum Depression Foundation in Chicago. She also coordinated a health equity grant for the Family and Child Health Department in Pittsburgh, PA, where she facilitated cross-sector efforts to reduce racial inequities in maternal and infant health outcomes. This involved addressing stigma around mental health and building interdisciplinary coalitions to strengthen access to local resources.

Her research interests focus on how non-clinical support systems can strengthen parenting capacity, reflective functioning, and family resilience. Kathryn is deeply committed to exploring how systems, programs, and communities can work in partnership to ensure families feel supported, connected, and resourced—so they can thrive.
